Easy "Homemade" Valentine's Day Goodie Bags

This post is a little late, but better late than never.  These are the treat bags I put together for my class this Valentine's Day.

These are not the greatest pictures, they were taken with my phone.  Next project I hope to document using a better camera.

Supplies Needed:
  • Various sheets of colored cardstock (pinks, reds, purples, etc.)
  • Every day craft supplies: Double-sided tape or Glue Stick,  Scissors or Paper Trimmer
  • Bone folder (to fold cards)
  • Valentine's Day Scrapbook Paper (may be substituted by Valentine's Day Stamp)
  • Valentine's Day sentiment or design stamp and stamp pad
  • Scalloped Scissors (or any other design you choose)
  • Various Valentine's Day Stickers, Other Treats or Goodies
  • Homemade Crayons (premade, optional)
  • Valentine's Day treat bags (I used sandwich type bags from Michael's)

1. Cut your cardstock to the desired size.  I used 8 1/2 x 11 size cardstock and cut it in half to make two cards out of each sheet.
2. Use your bone folder to create a clean fold.

3. Cut the images from your scrapbook paper.  I found this Valentine's Day themed paper at Michael's.
4. Apply double-sided tape or glue to your images.

5. Center your images and apply to the front of your card.

6. You may cut out a small square or rectangle from light colored cardstock to write your message inside the card.

7. Hand stamp a Valentine's Day sentiment or image and cut out using decorative scissors.
8. Attach the sentiment or image to your card and add cute Valentine's Day stickers.  I purchased these at Target.

9. Gather your Valentine's Day treats and fit them inside your treat bags.  I used foam stickers from Michael's, bubbles from the party section at Target, Valentine's Day themed erasers from Target, "Love Bug" pom pom toy, granola bars and homemade red crayons.
10. Last but not least, write out each card and label each bag with the child's name.

Twas the Season for Crafting

Below are some of this past Christmas' crafty homemade and semi-homemade holiday gifts.

Art Kits for the kids. I put together all the supplies for the preschool art kits and personalized them with vinyl using my Cricut. The kits include things like play dough, chalk, pom poms, stickers, pencils, crayons, glitter glue, watercolor, notepads, craft paper, gel pens, glue sticks, stamps, etc.

The wooden art kits were purchased at Michaels and personalized with the Cricut.

Homemade Play Dough - The holiday "lunch bags" have packages with homemade "Magical Play Dough Mix" to go with the art kits.  I got the idea from the Come Together Kids blog.  You can get the recipe here.  I printed the instructions, laminated and attached them to each baggie.

Homemade Hot Chocolate - The jars were monogrammed with the Cricut. The hot chocolate mix and tags are homemade.

Homemade Bookmarks - The bookmarks are hand stamped paint samples that were laminated for durability.

Clipboard - The clipboard was covered with scrapbook paper and contact paper. (I didn't get a good picture of it, sorry)

Holiday Cookie Trays

I haven't posted in a while but I wanted to make sure I didn't forget to post images of this years holiday cookie trays. As usual, I got caught up in making the cookies and having them ready on time that I didn't get pictures of all of them once they were done but I did take pictures of the them in trays ready to be gifted.

Cookie Dough Update

I have started making the cookie dough for my Holiday Cookie Trays.

Two out of five cookies complete...

Snickerdoodles

Chocolate Chip

I was in the baking mood so I decided to make Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins to enjoy now...
So yummy!

The cookie dough is now waiting in the freezer, ready to be baked on Christmas Eve.  I have to say though, my Snickerdoodle stash has been slowly disappearing. The "Cookie Monster" I live with, my boyfriend, has been slowly tapping into them.  (They happen to be his favorite.)  I'll have to make another batch because I am now down to 8 Snickerdoodles!  He's hit the Chocolate Chip stash but not as much as his faves.

Holiday Treats

So I've narrowed down the homemade holiday treats for this year. Each year I bake cookies and other treats to give to family and friends. This year I'm filling cookie tins for my family and possibly making small treat bags for friends and co-workers.

This is my list....

• Old Fashioned Sugar Cookies
• Snickerdoodles
• Soft & Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies
• Outrageous Chocolate Cookies
• Chocolate Covered Marshmallow Cookies

• Crispy Chocolate Marshmallow Treats
• Double Chocolate Brownies

• Homemade Hot Cocoa Mix (in monogrammed jars, might add a small bag of mini marshmallow)

If I still need to fill the cookie tins I might make Mudslide cookies and/or Double Chocolate Brownie Bites.

Now that the list has been narrowed down it's time to start making cookie dough! I'll post pictures as they're made.

Ninja Plush

Making the zombie last week was so much fun that I was inspired to create another feltie... this time it was a ninja!

It was so much fun to make!

My Latest Project

Borrowed a book, Zombie Felties by Nicola Tedman and Sarah Skeate, from a friend and made this little guy...

The original looked like this... but I added my own little twists to it.

It was so much fun to make... can't wait to try another one!
